If You Are Struggling Right Now
Struggling With Ostomy Bag Issues
Struggling with Ostomy Bag issues is a problem that all Ostomates struggle with. Just remember you are not alone in this new adventure.
Check with your ostomy and wound care nurse. If you are unable to get a hold of them, let me suggest this website:
United Ostomy Association of America
They have a variety of videos related to Ostomy issues.
Often times your ostomy supplies provider will have support help. So check with their websites such as:
There are many videos on Youtube from fellow Ostomates sharing their stories, issues, problems, and solutions.
Also, Stealth Belt has a number of videos with various subject matter dealing with ostomies.
Remember, ostomy issues, whether you have a urostomy, a colostomy, or an ileostomy, all have similar issues. When it comes to bag or device retention, skin irritation, and problems in general with ostomy bags and supplies.
I have found that while I have a urostomy, I was able to receive help from watching videos on colon ostomies or ileostomies. The ostomy world is big, you are not alone, the support is out there. Sometimes it takes a little bit of searching.
If You Are Struggling With Life With An Ostomy
You're Not Broken — You're Adapting
Many people living with an ostomy experience moments of grief, frustration, fear, or emotional exhaustion. These feelings are especially common during the first months after surgery or when dealing with complications, body-image changes, or isolation.
You do not have to face those moments alone.
If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, or feel overwhelmed to the point that you don’t feel safe:
